Issues : No pedal release mark

b. 41-44

composition: Op. 50 No. 3, Mazurka in C♯ minor

in AF, GE & EE

  in FE

..

The  asterisk is only in FE, which almost certainly means that Chopin added it in the last stage of proofreading of this edition. AI does not feature any pedalling markings in this fragment.

b. 42

composition: Op. 39, Scherzo in C♯ minor

 in EE

No sign in GC (→GE) & FE

..

The asterisk mark  can only be found in EE. We give it in our main text despite the fact that editorial revision cannot entirely be ruled out here. In practice, the pedal can be depressed a little longer, until the sustained notes c and cresound completely.

b. 42-43

composition: Op. 10 No 10, Etude in A♭ major

No pedalling in A

 in FE (→GE1)

  in GE2 (→GE3GE4) & EE

Our suggestion

..

Lack of the pedal release mark depressed in the middle of bar 42 must be considered as the notation's inaccuracy in this context. The  mark was added in EE and GE2 (→GE3GE4) at the end of bar 42, which is undoubtedly justified with similar indications in the previous bars. We suggest a completion after the notation of A at the beginning of bar 44.

b. 44-47

composition: Op. 10 No 11, Etude in E♭ major

No signs in A

 in FE

 in GE & EE

Our suggestion

..

The  marks written in A in bars 44 and 46 mean – same as in bar 33 – pedale come prima. Due to the fact that in analogous bars 25-28 Chopin marked a detailed pedalling, in the main text we suggest an addition based on these indications. The  marks appearing in the editions are certainly an addition of engravers or revisers.

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt I

No sign in FE (→EE1)

In the main text we include the  sign, present only in GC, and we suggest adding a , in accordance with the harmonic sense. No pedal's release asterisk is probably a result of Chopin's inattention.
