Long accents for both hands suggested by the editors

..

As a result of comparison of the indications of FE in bar 646 and 648-650, we interpret the  mark in this bar as a long accent, referring to both hands. The mark was placed lower also in GE and EE. The overspread mark in GE3 results from the actions of the reviser who considered it to be diminuendo only, since he did not figure that it could be an accent; it is possible that he wanted to align that diminuendo with the descending part of the passage.

b. 651

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In FE (→EE1), there are no cautionary naturals before g1 and g3; however, they were added in GE and, probably on the basis thereof, in EE2 (→EE3).

b. 652-653

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

In the main text, we omit the unnecessarily repeated sharps before c2 and a1 in the 2nd group of semiquavers. The former was removed already in GE1 (→GE2), the latter – in GE3.

b. 653

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt I

..

FE overlooked the  lowering e2 to e2. The accidental was added in the remaining editions. All editions except GE3 include an unnecessarily repeated  (cautionary?) before the last semiquaver.

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

cresc. - - - in FC

cresc. in GE1

 & cresc. - - - in GE2 (→GE3)

..

In the main text we give the cresc. indication added by Chopin in FC along with the dashes marking its range within b. 654-663. Just like in b. 203-212, the dashes were overlooked in GE1 and added in GE2 (→GE3) while modifying the initial section of crescendo after analogous b. 71-72: cresc. was moved to b. 655, and a  was added in b. 654.
