b. 39-47

composition: Op. 30 No. 2, Mazurka in B minor

..

There is no accidental to the last grace note in bars 39 and 47 in FC, while in FE in bars 39, 45 and 47. The patent oversights, the ones in bars 39 and 47 most probably by Chopin himself, who considered the earlier  to g1 to be sufficient, were corrected in GE (in bar 39 a  was added to FC already by the reviser) and in EE.

b. 43

composition: Op. 30 No. 1, Mazurka in C minor

The naturals to the L.H. octave on the 2nd beat of the bar are missing in FC – the visible pencilled naturals were added by the reviser of GE1. It is difficult to say whether it is an oversight by Fontana or by Chopin in [A]. All editions contain the correct text.

The initial notation of A (  for c flatin bar 52)

Naturals added in A

GE (→FEEE)

..

A has naturals before the 5th note from the end in bar 51 and the 3rd note of bar 52, which makes  them, respectively, c3 and c4. These naturals were most probably added by a foreign hand (perhaps the reviewer of GE1). Initially, A had only  before the 3rd note of bar 52. Therefore we give that initial version as the version of A, disregarding the improbable change, and we also supplement the omitted   in bar 51. The editions have the unquestionable text with the two flats (c3 and c4) in those places. Cf. bar 55.

b. 54

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

A has an additional note, E, in the last crotchet in the L.H. It is almost certainly a mistake of the person writing certain fragments of Tutti in bold (see the characterization of A). Interestingly, the note is absent in the editions, although there are no traces of it having been deleted in GE1. It could mean that at the time when A served as base text for GE1, the fragments in bold type and the mistake were absent (it is not a conclusive argument, since the engraver could have simply confused the bars, printing the octave from bar 53).

b. 54-62

composition: Op. 30 No. 2, Mazurka in B minor

..

In the main text, we add cautionary naturals before b1 in bars 22 and 30. The reviser of GE1 also added them in FC; they were subsequently introduced in this edition.
