Issues : Errors in the number of ledger lines

b. 49

composition: Op. 25 No 6, Etude in G♯ minor

B1 in FC (→GE) & EE

G1 In FE

..

Compliance of FC (→GE) and EE allows to suppose that B1 was also in [A], while G1 in FE is a result of Chopin proofreading. Most probably it was actually a correction of quite a frequently encountered mistake in Chopin's works concerning the number of ledger lines (cf., e.g., the Etude in Gmajor, Op. 10 No. 5, bar 72.

b. 55

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

The chord in the R.H. on the 2nd beat of the bar was crossed out in A and rewritten to the left of the original position. It is possible to read the initial notation – it was a chord written in two parts with a c2-f2-acrotchet in the bottom voice and an eminim in the top one. One can see that Chopin wrote one line too many and in the proofread version he also resigned from the fnote.

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In A the last demisemiquaver is an Fnote, as a result of which, when interpreted literally, the minim ending the passage is also an Fnote. Chopin's patent mistake was corrected in GE (→FE,EE). Such a blatant error could have been corrected by the reviser, which, in this case, does not diminish the value of the correction.

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

The version of the 2nd half of the bar in A, FE and EE is rather erroneous, so the change inscribed into FEJ should be considered as a correction. The mistakes in the number of ledger lines are Chopin's most frequent errors.
